Glass i Records was set up in 2004 and is probably London’s only truly independent Record Label. Combining in-house producers, production/recording facilities with in-house video facilities and in-house directors and producers. Our mission is to push the boundaries of the digital arts utilizing the talents of our creative force using cutting edge technology and experimental production. Glass i is taking advantage of the breakdown of the media and technology, not only to put control back in the hands of the truly creative artists, creating a platform for talent and energy, but also to maximize marketing and promotion through traditional and new/multi media channels.
Mehi
Artistically, Mehi is ahead of his time. A young man built on family values. His early influence came from his father, who himself is a powerful singer. So you could say singing is in his blood. Growing up, Mehi has come across many of the greats, such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Ghulam Ali, in the mehfil’s in his home town of Jalandher, in which his father was a regular participant and would always include Mehi in this musical experience. This early influence really left a mark on this wide eyed boy from Jalandher and can still be seen in this young man pursuing his dream on the other side of the globe here in the UK.
•A versatile singer with the ability to write and perform in Punjabi, Hindi and English, with no compromise in vocal range.
•At the age of eight, Mehi began the first of a series of Tabla master classes with Pandit Rama Kanth Ji.
•Heavily influenced by his father, Mehi followed in the pursuit of a singing career at the age of 16.
•His first commercial release was soon to follow when at the age of 17 he recorded a solo single for one of 2002’s biggest compilations ‘Fat Rough and Large’, with a track entitled ‘Holi Bhol’.
•In pursuit of his musical career, Mehi enrolled himself on a Music Production course, where he meet one of Glass i Records’ up and coming producers. This lead to a four track audition at Glass i Studios, upon which Glass i Records did not hesitate to offer Mehi a recording deal.
•Since singing with Glass i, Mehi has been in the studio 24/7 working on his debut EP, (Nazar) Album (All About Mehi) and building on his ever growing catalog of work.
•Several videos are already planned and are in the process of production to coincide with the release of the EP and Album, which will feature on all major Asian TV networks.
•Along side the videos, the EP will have a two week pre-release; exclusive play on Club Asia (963 and 972 AM).
•Mehi’s full potential has yet to be realized. With the right backing Mehi has the talent to break into the main stream chart market.
