![]() The long awaited second coming from the Best Newcomer at the UK Asian Music Awards 2003 is finally upon us. The sheer excitement and individuality of the artist known as Indy Sagu makes it hard for all us to envisage what the man has in store.
Since the release of his debut album Indy Sagu has been busy touring India, Denmark, Canada, America, Norway, and Amsterdam. Entertaining and performing all over the UK it is safe to say that Indy Sagu had secured his place in the market soon after the release of his first album. The second album, a style that’s fresh, not urban, classy but unique, a little mysterious, a genre that is inexplicable. Upon listening to the album one cannot help but think that Indy Sagu has made this album very personal; a depiction of how one artists’ tastes and styles in music have matured within the last 16 months.
Upon listening to the album one is interested to find a more mellow and contemporary style of music, with an undeniable twist of desi, enough to keep everyone hooked. Stylish and sophisticated this album surpasses all the expectations that you would have of an artist of this calibre. The album portrays the vocal talents of Lehmber Husianpuri, Surinder Shinda, Manak-e, and many more. Up and coming artist Dil who made her debut on Gubi Sandhu’s smash hit album last year also displays her vocal talents for all to enjoy.
The album which has been arranged and produced by Indy Sagu himself called ‘Indy-structable’, a name that he will no doubt live up to.
Indy Sagu who has further spent the past year listening to the ever expanding American Hip Hop scene, has paid particular attention to the work of Dr Dre, and on the Desi scene paid particular attention to the work of singers song writers from the Punjab.
His sound portrays all the influences and experiences that have become part of his everyday life since his debut last year. Heavily influenced by the American Hip Hop scene and desi music Indy Sagu felt that although the two styles of music had been combined on previous occasions there was a sudden surge and demand last year for the desi music market to be heavily doused with Hip-Hop styles and beats.
